Hoh Jun Gi

Jun Gi is the Singapore Cord Blood Bank’s first cord blood recipient. He was diagnosed with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) when he was just 5 months old. Jun Gi was given a new lease on life thanks to a cord blood transplant in 2006.

Stephen Oon

Stephen was diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) when he was just three months old. He fought through multiple infections and surgeries, eventually receiving a cord blood transplant that saved his life.

Muhammad Haziq Bin Ridzwan

Just months before his ‘A’ level exams, Haziq was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukaemia (ALL). Ethnicity plays an important role in finding a stem cell match. The donation of umbilical cord blood units that matches the ethnicity of the population is critical in helping to save lives of needy patients. Being of Malay ethnicity, the probability of finding a cord blood transplant match for Haziq was only 30%. Thankfully, two matching cord blood units were found in the SCBB inventory after four months of searching.

Alice Wong Seow Ping

Alice never expected to be diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) at the age of 37. Thankfully, two suitable cord blood units were found at the Singapore Cord Blood Bank (SCBB) and she received a life-saving stem cell transplant that same year.
