Imagine discovering that something routinely discarded can save lives. Now imagine being able to store enough of it so that people of all ethnic groups could have access to it.

Welcome to the public Singapore Cord Blood Bank. By collecting, processing and storing a ready supply of umbilical cord blood units, the Singapore Cord Blood Bank’s mission is to be a life saving, national resource that will benefit the diverse ethnic population in Singapore and worldwide.

Cord blood stem cells are a potential substitute for bone marrow stem cells and we hope to provide patients who cannot find matched bone marrow stem cells with a second chance at life.

A major feature of our programme is our dedicated commitment to the quality collection, testing and storage of umbilical cord units. We have created a safe and reliable cord blood bank offering patients a trusted source of blood stem cells.

Our goal is to build a diverse bank of Asian cord blood units so that Singaporeans of Chinese, Malay and Indian origins, as well as Asians in the SEA region and internationally will have a better chance of finding an adequate blood stem cell match.

Today, many expectant mothers and couples are asking questions such as “Should I bank my baby’s cord blood?" "What available options do I have?" "How does public and private banking differ?"

We hope our website can offer answers to most of your questions.
